Another Crimean Tatar political prisoner sentenced to a long term

The Southern District Military Court sentenced Amethan Abdulwapov to 10 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
The defense completely disagrees with this verdict. We consider it illegal and unfounded, we intend to appeal it in the court of appeal», - said lawyer Refat Yunus.

I have nothing to do with terrorism. Release me from the courtroom to my family, to my children», said Amethan Abdulwapov in his last word.

The Crimean Tatar is accused of membership in the Islamic political party «Hizb ut-Tahrir», which has been banned in Russia since 2003 and recognized as terrorist. The organization operates legally on the territory of Ukraine and most of the world’s countries. According to the case file, the accused did not possess a weapon, did not plan or call for a terrorist act.
