Elena Patyaeva—a friend of Seda Suleymanova, who disappeared three years ago after being forcibly returned from St. Petersburg to Chechnya—was detained in Grozny. On August 23, Patyaeva stood by the monument to journalists who died for freedom of speech, holding a sign that read: "I demand an investigation into the murder of Seda Suleymanova." This was reported by the human rights project "Slovo Zashchite" (Word for the Defense).
Another relative of Kadyrov appointed to public office
26-year-old Khamzat Kadyrov, nephew of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, was appointed to the post of assistant adviser on the force block. This was announced by Minister of National Policy, Foreign Relations and Information of Chechnya Akhmed Dudayev.
Earlier, journalists calculated that one third of the 158 major officials in Chechnya are relatives of Kadyrov. Recall, in March 2023, he promoted one of his daughters. 20-year-old Hutmat became the curator of the health sector in Chechnya. Another daughter of Kadyrov, 24-year-old Aishat, holds the post of Minister of Culture.
