Oleg Orlov reported deteriorating health and hearing problems

Convicted 70-year-old co-chairman of the Memorial Center Oleg Orlov complained about the lack of medical care in the pre-trial detention center. Due to problems with a runny nose and without treatment, the human rights activist began to hear much worse, the Memorial Human Rights Center reported.

From the moment Oleg Orlov was sentenced, at the request of judge Elena Astakhova, every day he was taken from the pre-trial detention center to the Golovinsky Court of Moscow to familiarize himself with the case materials and was brought back only at night. Most often, he spends the entire day in a convoy room, deprived of rest, hot food and full communication with a lawyer. The latter has been unable to talk to his client confidentially for more than two weeks and help him prepare for the appeal.

During this time, Orlov caught a cold and his hearing became much worse. However, due to daily travel, he cannot get to the doctor in the pre-trial detention center.

Let us recall that on February 27, the Golovinsky Court of Moscow sentenced Oleg Orlov to 2.5 years in prison under the article on “repeated discrediting” of the army. The human rights activist was tried for an anti-war article in which he called the Putin regime fascist.

After being transferred to Moscow pre-trial detention center-5 “Vodnik”, the prisoner was offered to sign a contract to participate in a “special military operation”. In response to the proposal made, Oleg Orlov laughed. He explained that he turns 71 this year. Moreover, he was sentenced precisely for his anti-war position and protest against the war in Ukraine.
