During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
Political prisoner and co-chair of the Memorial Human Rights Center Oleg Orlov was able to exercise his right to call his wife, human rights activist Tatyana Kasatkina. Memorial reported this.
Orlov said that everything is fine with him, he has normal relations with all his cellmates in the Syzran pre-trial detention center. Previously, he could not call his wife due to the refusal of the pre-trial detention center staff.
On February 2, Oleg Orlov was recognized as a foreign agent. On February 27, the Golovinsky Court of Moscow sentenced him to 2.5 years in prison under the article on “repeated discrediting” of the army. The human rights activist was tried for an anti-war article in which he called the Putin regime fascist.
Later, the convict complained about the lack of medical care in the pre-trial detention center. From the moment of Orlov’s verdict, at the request of the judge, every day he was taken to the Golovinsky court to familiarize himself with the case materials and was brought back only at night. Most often, he spent the entire day in the convoy room, deprived of rest, hot food and full communication with his lawyer.
