For Georgia to become an EU candidate country, all political forces will overcome extreme hostility and work together. This is stated in the report of the monitoring committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
The authors expressed concern about the pace of judicial reform in Georgia, the campaign against non-governmental organizations and the state of health of imprisoned ex-president Mikhail Saakashvili.
On the eve of the USA visa sanctions were imposed against high-ranking Georgian judges - four members of the Supreme Council of Justice. They were accused of corruption and undermining the rule of law.
