At a ceremony in Abu Dhabi, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity from the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The leaders of the two countries were awarded for their consistent advancement of the peace agenda and their commitment to ensuring cooperation and stability in the region.
A meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan, took place in Abu Dhabi. They arrived in the UAE to attend the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity ceremony. Both politicians were awarded the award for advancing the peace agenda between Baku and Yerevan.
During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the results of the implementation of the agreements reached at the Washington Peace Summit, which was attended by the US President.
The heads of state noted the importance of maintaining positive momentum in the process of normalizing relations between the countries on a bilateral basis, without the involvement of external intermediaries.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral trade, including the export of petroleum products from Azerbaijan to Armenia and the transit of grain and other goods through Azerbaijani territory. The parties agreed to further explore prospects for expanding economic cooperation and mutual trade.
During the meeting, the implementation of the TRIPP project and other initiatives to develop transport infrastructure were also discussed. Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to continue regular contacts to further advance the process of bilateral normalization.
Aliyev and Pashinyan welcomed mutual visits by civil society representatives and agreed on the need to expand confidence-building measures between the countries.
