Pashinyan explained the reason for the failure of the protest movement “Tavush in the name of the Motherland”

The protest movement “Tavush for the Motherland” failed because the Armenian society understands and accepts the idea of “real Armenia”. This conclusion was shared by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the political forum of the ruling Civil Contract party. According to him, the above-mentioned idea is not imposed by the government and belongs to the Armenian society.

On April 10, Pashinyan noted that “historical Armenia” is a guarantee of long-term enmity with a number of neighboring countries and called for abandoning it in favor of “real Armenia.”

On May 4, protesters against the return of border villages to Azerbaijan set out in a procession from the Tavush region to Yerevan. On May 9, the leader of the movement, Bagrat Galstanyan, called for Pashinyan’s resignation. On May 26, “Tavush for the Name of the Motherland” nominated Galstanyan for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia. Since May 9, anti-government demonstrations have been taking place almost daily in Yerevan.
