Pashinyan believes that the Russian authorities ordered the Armenian Church to fight him

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told his team that Russia ordered the Armenian Apostolic Church to fight the authorities. According to the local publication Hraparak, the Armenian leader said that Moscow ordered the clergy to make anti-government statements.

The prime minister’s “anti-church” campaign is causing discontent among some representatives of parliamentary factions, but they do not dare to talk about it,” the newspaper writes.

Earlier, Yerevan called for a criminal case to be opened against Pashinyan for insulting the church. The “Ayakve” initiative group addressed the prosecutor general with this message. According to the statement, the prime minister’s actions are “proportionate to the state’s interference in the internal affairs of the church,” and the Armenian constitution guarantees that “the state does not interfere in the affairs of the church or other religious organization.”
