Georgia and Armenia will host the 2029 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The national football associations of both countries confirmed this information, which was received at the FIFA Council in Vancouver on April 28.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev on March 8.
According to Azerbaijani media, Pezeshkian thanked Aliyev for his visit to the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan, where the head of state expressed condolences over the deaths of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and many civilians. The Iranian president also noted Baku's readiness to provide humanitarian aid to Tehran.
During the conversation, Pezeshkian stated that the airstrike in Nakhchivan was not related to Iran. He said the incident would be investigated. Aliyev, in turn, reiterated his condolences over the deaths of numerous civilians in Iran and emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation.
Furthermore, the two leaders discussed prospects for developing joint economic projects.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense reported that four drones attacked Nakhchivan on March 5. Tehran denies involvement in the incident, blaming Israel for the attack.
Apparently, during the phone call, the presidents agreed to resume cargo transportation between the two countries, as entry and exit of freight vehicles across the Azerbaijani-Iranian border had already been reopened that morning. According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, both bilateral and transit cargo flows between the countries resumed at 10:00 AM on March 9.
