During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
Dagestani historian and Caucasus specialist who was subjected to searches was banned from participating in a scientific conference
Dagestani historian and Caucasus specialist Khadzhi Murad Donogo reported that he was first allowed, and then secretly banned from participating in the interregional scientific and practical conference "National-state formations in Russia: history and modernity", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Ingushetia.
"Two days before the start of the conference, I was informed that my participation was excluded, i.e. the organizers of the event were strictly warned about this. Who warned me? It's strange, because I am listed as a participant in the conference program, the collection of reports has already been published with my article," Donogo shared on his Telegram channel.
Last year, the "Association of Veterans of Special Forces" sent a complaint to the head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov against Khadzhi Murad Donogo. In their appeal, the applicants called Donogo a "nationalist and separatist." He was charged with propaganda aimed at "weakening Russia and separating the North Caucasus republics in the interests of foreign enemies." After this, the historian's home in Makhachkala was searched. Books, flash drives, a telephone, and a computer with valuable historical materials were confiscated from him. He is known as the author of dozens of books and monographs, including about the Caucasian War and Imam Shamil. As a result of the above, the historian lost his position as deputy director of the A. Takho-Godi National Museum of Dagestan.
