Crimean Tatar political prisoner held in strict conditions for 10 months

Father of six Bilyal Adilov has been held in a cell-type facility (PKT) of penal colony No. 1 in Kyzyl (Tuva Republic) for about 10 months. This was reported by his wife.

She was not informed of the reasons for placing Adilov in the PKT. According to the law, the maximum term of detention in strict conditions is six months.

In March 2019, Tofik Abdulgaziyev, Vladlen Abdulkadyrov, Izzet Abdullaev, Medzhit Abdurakhmanov and Bilyal Adilov were detained after mass searches in Crimea. In May 2022, the court sentenced all defendants in the case under articles on participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and preparation for a violent change of power (Article 278 of the Criminal Code with the application of Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Bilyal Adilov was sentenced to 14 years in prison, and the rest were sentenced to 12 years.

Before his arrest, Adilov was a religious figure, actively participated in the public life of the Crimean Tatars, attended court hearings and provided assistance to the families of other political prisoners.
