A political prisoner of the Crimean Tatar is being held for more than two months in Shizo

Timur Yalkabova, wife of a political prisoner, complained to the Human Rights Commissioner in the Ulyanovsk region about the actions of the colony administration in Dimitrovgrad. She told me that her husband had been unjustifiably placed in the SHIZ, had his personal belongings confiscated, humiliated.

My husband has enormous health problems, particularly third-degree asthma. Being in the punishment cell is categorically contraindicated to him, but he is there from February 9 to today without any reason», - explained in her statement.

In March 2022, Timur Yalkabov was sentenced to 17 years in prison. The defence and the defendant described the trial as fabricated and linked it to the expression of civic position and public criticism of the authorities for repressing Crimean Tatars. Formally, Yalkabov was accused of participating in the Islamic party «Hizb ut-Tahrir», which was banned in Russia. On the territory of Ukraine and most countries of the world, the organization operates without restrictions at the level of national legislation.
