A political prisoner of the Crimean Tatar is held in the SHIZO for more than two months
The Crimean Tatar Timur Yalkabov, who had been sentenced to 17 years, was held in the punishment cell of Dimitrovgrad prison for more than two months. The reasons for the confinement are unknown.
Yalkabov has a third disability due to bronchial asthma. In March 2022, he was sentenced to 17 years' imprisonment on charges of participation in the Islamic party «Hizb ut-Tahrir», which was banned in the Russian Federation. The defense and the convict themselves call the process fabricated and link the arrests to the expression of civic position and public criticism of the security forces for repressing Crimean Tatars.
