Former Federation Council member from Karachay-Cherkessia Rauf Arashukov, who was sentenced to life in prison, posted an apology to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov on his Instagram page.

In the post, Arashukov asks for forgiveness for all the mistakes he made and claims that he never did anything intentionally, especially something that could anger or offend Kadyrov.

“I ask you to forgive me for the sake of Allah, I have admitted my mistakes. I ask you to help my family in this situation. My family and I will never forget the help that the head of Chechnya has provided them more than once,” Arashukov wrote.

In December 2022, former adviser to the CEO of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz LLC Raul Arashukov and his son, former senator from the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Rauf Arashukov, were sentenced to life imprisonment. They were found guilty in a criminal case on the creation of a criminal community, murders and thefts. The investigation found that Rauf Arashukov, on the orders of his father, organized the murders of the deputy chairman of the Adege-Khese youth movement Aslan Zhukov and adviser to the head of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Fral Shebzukhov. In addition, the father and son were involved in the theft of gas worth 4.4 billion rubles.
