Suspected member of Basayev and Khattab units sentenced to 23 years in the colony

Mahdi Magomedov, one of the alleged participants of the detachments of field commanders Shamil Basayev and Khattab, was found guilty of attempting to harm the lives of soldiers. According to the investigation, in February 2000, a man attacked the Airborne Forces. 

Mohammed, hiding in the position, fired at the employees from the automatic rifle. As a result, 84 people died and four were injured in varying degrees of severity, as the court noted.

Following an earlier conviction, Magomedov received a final sentence of 23 years' rigorous imprisonment.
