A representative of the American army will work in the Ministry of Defense of Armenia

US Deputy Secretary of State Uzra Zeya confirmed reports that a representative of the American army will work in the Armenian Ministry of Defense.

“This also indicates the historical fact of the transition of Armenian-American relations to a new phase of strategic partnership,” she noted.

During her visit to Armenia from June 13 to 16, Uzra Zeya held meetings with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan and other officials of the country. In addition, joint Armenian-American military exercises “EAGLE PARTNER 2024” began on July 15, which will last until June 24.

Earlier, following the results of the Armenia-US strategic dialogue meeting, a joint statement was published. The dialogue between the US and Armenia will be elevated to the level of a strategic partnership. In particular, a joint action plan was agreed to expand trade and economic ties, cooperation in the field of sanctions and export controls, as well as support for the energy independence of Armenia.

“The United States will continue to support reforms in the defense sector and law enforcement system of Armenia through the provision of advice, military education programs and partnerships with the Kansas National Guard,” the statement noted.
