Berlin has recalled its ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations. The decision, made by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepoel, is intended to determine how to proceed, the ministry announced.

If Georgian Dream wins the parliamentary elections on October 26, not only representatives of opposition parties but also the country's president could be sent to prison. This was stated by Salome Zurabishvili herself.
"There will probably be impeachment, and I will be sent to prison if this happens," the Georgian president suggested.
In her opinion, pro-European forces, and not the pro-Russian ruling party, should nevertheless win the parliamentary elections.
The president again emphasized that Georgia should ideally move from a single-party system to a multi-party and coalition government. This means that there will not be one ruler in whose hands the facts of pressure are concentrated, and that in such conditions there will be a much freer environment.
One of the leaders of the Georgian Dream, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, spoke about the country's desire to become a member of the EU and noted that Russia cannot influence the elections in Georgia.
"I can say that Russia has no influence in Georgia. There are no political parties here that would be under Russian influence," the Prime Minister assured.
