Berlin has recalled its ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations. The decision, made by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepoel, is intended to determine how to proceed, the ministry announced.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, in an interview with Formula TV, said that the transition to coalition governance would be a significant step forward for the country, ending more than 30 years of one-party rule. She stressed the importance of learning coalition governance and said that four pro-Western parties would have to effectively govern the country.
The president also reminded that these parties are responsible for implementing the Georgian Charter, a plan for rapid accession to the EU, and she will hold them accountable. Zurabishvili added that there is an opportunity to repeal Russian laws in force in the country.
The Georgian president also said that she will name her candidate for prime minister after the parliamentary elections on October 26. According to the head of state, the prime minister should be a person who does not belong to any party, “neutral.” Zurabishvili is confident that she will be able to reach an agreement with opposition parties on a technical government and a candidate for the post of prime minister.
