US President Donald Trump pledged his unconditional support for Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
"Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia, my great friend and leader, is making his country strong, prosperous, and very secure! Nikol fully shares my vision for peace and prosperity for Armenia and the entire South Caucasus. For these reasons, he has my full and unconditional support for re-election on June 7, 2026. With Nikol's help, we will elevate the United States, Armenia, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia to unprecedented heights," Trump stated.
He noted that Secretary of State Marco Rubio's visit to Armenia facilitated the conclusion of a number of "significant agreements" for both sides. According to him, Washington and Yerevan will soon begin implementing the "Trump route," which, according to the American leader, "will change the regional situation and open the way for US energy corporations to access local resources."
As a reminder, the parties officially approved a strategic partnership document on May 26.
Earlier, reports emerged that Russian authorities had prepared a strategy to influence the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia, scheduled for June 7. Among the political forces with the most pronounced pro-Russian stance are the Strong Armenia party, associated with businessman Samvel Karapetyan, the Armenia bloc of former President Robert Kocharyan, and Gagik Tsarukyan's Prosperous Armenia. Nikol Pashinyan, the current head of government and leader of the Civil Contract party, called on citizens not to vote for their opponents.
