Criminal case against detained students from Ingushetia

After detaining Malik Gandaloev, a student from Ingushetia, and his friend from Dagestan, Arsen Gammadov, the security forces discovered a cache containing personal belongings and an improvised explosive device with destructive elements. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the offenders for the manufacture and illegal possession of explosives. A similar charge was brought against Ramazan Gandaloev, Malik’s brother, but he could not be apprehended. Arsen Gammadov and Malik Gandaloev have been placed in temporary detention in Nazran.

22-year-old Malik Gandaloev, his 21-year-old brother Ramazan and their 23-year-old friend Arsen Gammadov went missing at the end of February. All three attended Astrakhan Medical University. They left by bus from Astrakhan and asked for a stop on the road at the turn of the village Troitskoe in Ingushetia. Since then no one has seen the young people, and Gammadov wrote to his father: «Don’t look for me».
On March 22, employees of the Center «E» with the support of special forces detained Malik and Arsen. The friends were hiding in the forest, near the village of Alhasty in the Sunwomen district.
