A resident of Ingushetia, previously tortured, was convicted of aiding terrorism

The Southern District Military Court sentenced Magomed Kottoyev, a resident of Ingushetia, to 14 years in a maximum-security penal colony. He was convicted of aiding members of a terrorist organization and an illegal armed group.

According to the prosecution, in April 2023, Kottoyev used his car to transport four individuals, suspected of being ISIS members and wanted, to a location specified by them.

This is the second criminal case against Kottoyev. He was previously sentenced to six years for possessing a grenade launcher, but maintained his innocence and complained of planted evidence and torture by security forces. That sentence was overturned by the cassation court for further review.

It should be noted that Magomed Kottoyev is a relative of Movsar Kottoyev, whom security forces believe is involved in the attack on a police post on March 28, 2023, on the border between Ingushetia and North Ossetia. His body was found a week later in an abandoned house: according to the official version, he blew himself up with a grenade.
