Georgia's ruling party has initiated amendments to the Law on Assemblies and Manifestations and the Code of Administrative Offenses, the discussion and adoption of which will proceed expeditiously. According to the bill, organizers of events at "places where people move" will be required to notify state authorities in advance.
The US has blocked grants to Armenia and other post-Soviet countries
The US State Department has cancelled funding for foreign aid projects in various countries. One of the grants is “promoting democratic culture” in Armenia for $2 million.
In addition, $750,000 will not be allocated to “strengthen the resilience and adaptation of civil society” in Kyrgyzstan, $2.5 million to “promote critical civic participation” in Uzbekistan, $2 million to “expand the resilience and engagement of news writing” in Moldova, and $2.4 million to “respond to disinformation through creative content” in Belarus.
A total of 139 grants worth $215 million have been cancelled. Programs in the UK have also been cut.
