Court Seizes Property of Former Dagestan Sports Minister Accused of Assisting Terrorism
As part of the investigation into the criminal case of the former head of Kizilyurt and former Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of Dagestan Magomed Magomedov, the court has seized his assets. Among them are seven land plots ranging from 312 to 10 thousand square meters, two premises and five buildings. In addition, the ex-minister's arrest has been extended until February 2025.

Magomed Magomedov was detained in connection with a case of embezzlement on an especially large scale in October 2023. In addition, he was charged with assisting terrorism. Law enforcement officials believe that the former official transferred $100,000 to crime boss Magomedkhabib Magomedaliev in 2009. The currency was supposed to go to finance one of the gangs of militants operating in Dagestan at the time.

The investigation also has information that when Bolshoy Makhach headed the Gergebil district of Dagestan, in addition to performing official duties, he led an armed gang. His henchmen, as the investigation believes, could have participated in the massacre of businessman Mirza Sirazhudinov and his 12-year-old son. Under all the articles, the former minister faces a long term of imprisonment, up to life imprisonment.

The head of the physical education and sports department of Dagestan, Khalitbeg Makhachev, is also involved in the case with Magomedov.
