Türkiye welcomed Armenia's recognition of the Palestinian state

The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed satisfaction that Armenia recognized Palestine.

“We are glad that Armenia, following countries such as Spain, Ireland, Norway and Slovenia, has decided to recognize the state of Palestine,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The department emphasized that Ankara “will make efforts to increase the number of countries recognizing the Palestinian state.”

In addition, the Palestinian organization Hamas thanked Armenia.

“We welcome Armenia’s announcement of recognition of the State of Palestine and consider this an important step towards consolidating international recognition of the rights of our people, as well as a fresh new chapter in the history of relations between our two friendly peoples,” Hamas said in a press release.

On June 21, Armenia announced that Yerevan officially recognized the Palestinian state. After this, the Armenian ambassador was summoned to the Israeli Foreign Ministry to “reprimand.”
