Armenian law enforcement agencies have detained 14 activists of the Strong Armenia opposition party, led by Russian oligarch Samvel Karapetyan. The head of the party's office has been charged with violating the legal ban on charitable donations, according to party spokesperson Ghramanyan.
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has initiated legal proceedings demanding the seizure of assets worth 533 million rubles from the former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs for Dagestan, Rufat Ismailov.
An investigation conducted following Ismailov's arrest on suspicion of bribery revealed assets worth a total of 533.7 million rubles. This amount is many times greater than the former security official's official total income for the period from 2010 to 2022, which amounted to 19.6 million rubles. His wife's income for the same period is estimated at 3.3 million rubles.
According to the prosecutor's office, Ismailov owns (through affiliates) eight plots of land, five properties in Derbent and Makhachkala, an apartment in Moscow, and six foreign-made cars.
In 2023, Rufat Ismailov was accused of accepting two bribes totaling 1.3 million rubles. His deputy, Dalgat Abdulgapurov, investigator Abdul Abakarov, and two entrepreneurs are also charged in the criminal case. Ismailov denies his guilt and claims there is insufficient evidence in the case.
