The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded to criticism from Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili regarding Kyiv's "ingratitude." In his statement, ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhyi sarcastically noted Ukraine's "gratitude" to the Georgian government "for not imposing sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine and helping the common aggressor circumvent them, for turning their country away from the path of EU and NATO integration and toward the Russian yoke, and for making constant disparaging comments about Ukraine."

At the same time, the diplomat expressed hope for a European future for the Georgian people, despite the current pro-Russian policies of the country's government.
Earlier, Papuashvili accused the Ukrainian authorities of "ingratitude," wishing Ukraine peace and the Ukrainian people a worthy government.
"The support the Georgian people provide to Ukraine is being met with this response: first, they secretly sent us Saakashvili, and, through Podolyak's statements, they tried to draw us into an escalation with Russia. They told us from Ukraine that perhaps we, too, could take a stroll through various occupied regions, and so on. This is how they treat the Georgian people," the speaker fumed.
