Christophe Deloire, Secretary General of the international organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF), has died in Paris. He was 53 years old. He was battling cancer.

“Christophe Deloire was a tireless defender of freedom, independence and pluralism of journalism on all continents in the face of information chaos. Journalism was his life's work, and he fought with unshakable conviction,” the obituary on the organization's website reads.

Reporters Without Borders is an international non-governmental organization that opposes censorship and violence against journalists, fighting for the release of those imprisoned because of their professional activities.

Recently, Reporters Without Borders again filed a case with the International Criminal Court over Israel's killing of Palestinian journalists. The organization also expressed concern about violence against Georgian journalists by security forces and called on the Azerbaijani authorities to release the arrested representatives of the free press.
