People from Chechnya Hunger Strike in Center for Migrants in Croatia
On the third day, a hunger strike by Chechen refugees in a migrant camp in Croatia continues. They have been held incommunicado for six months and have been extended for another three months. Refugees complain of bad treatment by the camp administration.
Earlier, Chechens who had left Russia because of their unwillingness to participate in the war against Ukraine had been denied refugee status and international protection. Citizens of the Russian Federation remain in a closed camp, from where they can be either released for travel to another country or deported to Moscow.
