A native of Chechnya was sentenced to a term in a penal colony under a terrorism article
The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the sentence of six years in prison for 32-year-old Almira Ayupova. The native of Chechnya was found guilty of participating in the international terrorist organization "Islamic State" in Syria. Both prosecution witnesses did not actually confirm the woman's guilt.

According to the investigation, Almira Ayupova, a resident of the village of Starogladovskaya in the Shelkovsky District of Chechnya, came to the militant-controlled territory of Syria in 2015. There she ran a household, cooked food for her husband, a member of the ISIS unit. In addition, the woman provided armed security for the house.

The charges are based on the testimony of two witnesses about meetings with a Chechen woman in 2015 in Syria, but one of them could not identify the convicted woman. Another witness retracted his testimony and admitted that he gave it under pressure from the security forces. Ayupova herself stated that she did not guard the house and did not hold a weapon in her hands. However, the court did not listen to their arguments and sentenced the accused to a long term.
