Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili stated that the ruling party's signing of a document in support of Ukraine was motivated not so much by fears of an international investigation as by a desire to irritate Russia.
The Moscow City Court has upheld the decision of the Nikulinsky District Court to confiscate the assets of Vladimir Kayshev, the former chairman of the Karachay-Cherkessia government.
Key assets have been transferred to state ownership, including a dairy plant in Pyatigorsk, a company managing a local racetrack, the agricultural firm "Selo im. G.V. Kayshev," as well as real estate and vehicles in Stavropol Krai and the Moscow region.
Vladimir Kayshev, who is currently in pretrial detention, is accused of a number of crimes. These include the illegal acquisition of land, the theft of 142 million rubles in natural gas, extortion of a share in a mineral water bottling company worth 1.1 billion rubles, and the embezzlement of budget funds through the supply of counterfeit dairy products.
