Abkhazia says it doesn't need thrifty Russian tourists

A representative of the Abkhazian Ministry of Tourism noted that many tourists from Russia are too thrifty.

"What kind of tourist are we accepting? The tourist who comes here for 300 rubles, I assure you, won't buy anything. He will stand in line for a glass of juice and water at the hotel, and he won't buy anything on the street. They come, buy instant noodles, excuse me. But we want them to buy souvenirs, our agricultural products, etc. That is, I don't think we need such a tourist," the official shared.

The Minister of Tourism of the Republic Astamur Logua responded to these words.

"First of all, this is not the position of the ministry. It is clear that in the tourism industry, as in any other, there are many problems, but this does not mean that we choose the tourist we want to see in Abkhazia. We are glad to see all the guests who come to our country," the head of the department said.

Abkhazia is visited annually by about 4.5 million Russians. A vacation for two tourists, including transportation costs, costs an average of 80 thousand rubles.
