Azerbaijan and Turkey have signed a new agreement to supply 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas from the Absheron field in the Caspian Sea. Shipments, totaling 2.25 billion cubic meters per year, will begin in 2029 and continue until the 2040s via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline.
According to Adygea Governor Murat Kumpilov, between 4,000 and 5,000 people remain without power in the republic due to downed power lines. Although the situation is gradually stabilizing, strong winds and repeated outages are slowing restoration efforts.
Power companies promised to restore power to 95% of the affected customers by January 5. Kumpilov expressed hope that the state of emergency would be lifted within two days. However, Adygea residents are reporting ongoing power problems on social media.
"We've been without power and heat in the center of Maykop for five days now! Veteranov Street, between Pobeda and Maykopskaya (the entire even-numbered side). I'm fed up with calling every number! They either hang up or don't answer. I only got through once, and they told me they were working on it and then hung up," said a local resident.
