The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on plans by US President Donald Trump's family, along with local partners, to build a 70-story Trump Tower in Tbilisi. According to the publication, the building is slated to be the tallest in the Georgian capital.
This news comes amid the ruling Georgian Dream party's desire to restore relations with the United States and establish a partnership with the Trump administration.
Former police officer Murat Adzhigiriev was sentenced in Maykop to two years and three months in a penal colony for assaulting journalists from the Adygea State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (GTRK Adygeya) in the republic's Supreme Court. In addition to his prison term, he was fined 50,000 rubles.
The incident occurred after Adzhigiriev ignored a police order to stop and insulted an officer during an arrest, for which he was fined 150,000 rubles.
The prosecutor's office, considering the ruling too lenient, filed an appeal. Before the appeal hearing, Adzhigiriev, who was in the courthouse, attacked the journalists, specifically hitting a videographer. He was found guilty of hooliganism with the use of violence. The police officer was dismissed from the police force more than 10 years ago.
