Public figures in Armenia have appealed to the Prosecutor's Office demanding that criminal proceedings be instituted against Russian television host Vladimir Solovyov for inciting aggression against the country. The Union of Informed Citizens bases its demand on Article 151 of the Armenian Criminal Code, which provides for liability for public calls to unleash aggression, noting that the provisions of the Criminal Code can be applied to individuals who commit crimes outside the country.
Earlier, Hayk Konjoryan, leader of the Civil Contract faction in the Armenian parliament, called Solovyov's statements a threat to sovereignty, while Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ruben Rubenyan compared the propagandist to a "barking dog." Furthermore, the Armenian Foreign Ministry handed the Russian ambassador a note of protest.
This reaction was prompted by Solovyov's remarks about the possibility of conducting a "SVO in Armenia and Central Asia." Earlier, in March 2024, the broadcast of the Russian propagandist's programs in Armenia was blocked.
