Elena Patyaeva—a friend of Seda Suleymanova, who disappeared three years ago after being forcibly returned from St. Petersburg to Chechnya—was detained in Grozny. On August 23, Patyaeva stood by the monument to journalists who died for freedom of speech, holding a sign that read: "I demand an investigation into the murder of Seda Suleymanova." This was reported by the human rights project "Slovo Zashchite" (Word for the Defense).
A rally was held in Armenia with the slogan: “We will throw the Russian boot out of Armenia”
Today, February 23, a protest rally was held in Yerevan at the initiative of the political bloc “National Democratic Pole”. It took place in front of the main headquarters of the Russian border troops in Armenia.
The protesters chanted slogans: “We will throw the Russian boot out of Armenia”, “Russian occupier, get out of Armenia”, “War criminals”.
The day before, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview with France24 that his country’s participation in the military-political bloc CSTO, which is dominated by Moscow, is frozen. “The collective security treaty, in our opinion, was not implemented in relation to Armenia. We have suspended our participation in this agreement,” Pashinyan said.
