In Armenia, over half of the population considers the Russian Federation a security threat

66% of Armenians assess relations with Russia as negative and posing a threat to their country. In March 2023, this figure was 49%. These are the findings of a survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI).

Earlier, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced the suspension of his country’s participation in the pro-Russian military-political bloc CSTO.

“Yerevan really hasn’t been participating in the work of the CSTO Secretariat lately,” said the organization’s Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov. He noted that “certain events and sentiments among some of the Armenian elites cause concern,” but the CSTO hopes for “political sobriety” in Yerevan.
