Trial of Soviet Propagandists Begins in Azerbaijan

A trial has begun in Baku for four individuals: Ibrahim Asadli, Abdullah Ibrahimli, Elchin Bayramli, and Mehman Zeynalov. They are accused of planning to hold a march with Soviet symbols.

According to investigators, in November 2025, the detainees, acting as a group and with foreign funding, rented an office to hold meetings and promote communist ideology. Soviet flags, radical literature, and electronic media found in their possession served as grounds for charges under Article 233 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (disturbing public order). The next court hearing will be held on April 6.
