In Chechnya, over a thousand homes need to be restored after flooding

Following the spring floods in Chechnya, more than a thousand residential buildings and dozens of social facilities need to be restored. Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Shaptukayev announced this at a meeting of the government's emergency commission in Moscow.

"The consequences of the emergency in the Chechen Republic are being addressed, and damage assessments are underway. More than a thousand private homes, as well as numerous facilities of vital importance to society, including in the areas of healthcare, education, culture, and social protection, need to be restored," Shaptukayev reported.

According to him, the floods also damaged roads, bridges, hydraulic structures, land reclamation facilities, and agricultural land.

The Chechen Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that river levels are gradually receding. However, a federal state of emergency remains in effect in the republic; it was declared on April 9 following heavy rainfall and river flooding.

According to authorities, 4,360 houses and adjacent areas in 39 settlements of the republic were flooded as a result of the floods.
