A large-scale investigation published by TRT in Russian lays bare the human cost of Russia's war in Ukraine for the Republic of North Ossetia—a small region with a population of approximately 700,000, where, according to figures presented at a meeting of an internal, interdepartmental, government commission, between 43,000 and 45,000 people took part in the fighting.
Three cities to be renamed in Chechnya
The Commission on Legislative Activity of the Government of the Russian Federation supported the parliamentary initiative of Chechnya to rename three settlements.
The city of Naurskaya will be renamed Nevre (i.e. "North"). Shelkovskoye will be named in honor of the Terek River. Chechen deputies proposed renaming the city of Sernovodskoye to Sernovodsk.
Earlier, districts and inner-city settlements were renamed in the capital of Chechnya, Grozny. Thus, the Leninsky district became Akhmatovsky, the Grozny settlement of Rodina was named after Khusein Isayev, the Third State Farm - Sheikh Deni Arsanov, the Michurin settlement - Sheikh Daud-Khadzhi Khadzhimusayev, Gikalo - Zhamalayli Elikhanov, Prigorodnoye - Sheikh Iznaur Neserkhoyev.
