According to preliminary investigations, ignoring structural defects, the lack of necessary control systems, emergency rescue equipment, and an emergency action plan contributed to the accident.
On April 5, a significant volume of water gushed from the reservoir, flooding a section of the Kavkaz federal highway and adjacent areas, resulting in the deaths of at least two people.
The engineer responsible for safe operation of the Gedzhukh Reservoir, a member of the Dziv-2 company, has been remanded in custody by a court in Makhachkala until June 10.
