A criminal case was opened against a resident of Derbent, Dagestan, 62-year-old Uruzhbek Magomedov under Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (desecration of burial sites).
 
The man leads a vagrant lifestyle and has no fixed abode. He is accused of desecrating the Eternal Flame at the "Grieving Mother" monument. According to investigators, Magomedov stood at the memorial during the day and warmed himself by the eternal flame. In addition, it is noted that he was often seen drunk and in an inadequate state on the streets of the city, and was also repeatedly taken to the police station.
