In Dagestan, the North Caucasus Federal District chess champion tried to poison her opponent with mercury

Before the start of the chess tournament in Makhachkala, one participant approached one of the tables, poured an unknown liquid and rubbed it with a chess piece. This moment was caught on surveillance cameras, Baza reported.

It turned out that the liquid was mercury, and the poisoner was last year's winner of the North Caucasus Federal District chess championship, 40-year-old Amina Abakarova. She tried to poison Umayganat Osmanova. The latter felt ill during the match, and the police were called to the scene.

Amina Abakarova was detained. According to one version, the motive for the crime was a conflict between the chess players, according to another, the desire to win. The police began an investigation under the article on intentional infliction of harm to health.
