In Dagestan, thousands of people were left without power due to flooding, and a railway bridge collapsed

Due to heavy rainfall that has blanketed Dagestan since Friday evening, 60,000 residents in 14 districts were left without power. Numerous homes were reportedly flooded, and a railway bridge collapsed in Khasavyurt.

In Makhachkala, on Zarechnaya Street, a clogged drain caused the water level to rise to 1.5 meters, inundating approximately 20 private homes. Emergency Ministry personnel cleared the blockage, which led to a decrease in the water level. As a result of these operations, 83 people, including children, were evacuated and four others were rescued. Flooding of private homes and cars was also reported on Perova Street, and evacuations are underway.

Flooding left residents of the capital and other villages in Dagestan without power, including in the Tlyaratinsky, Karabudakhkentsky, Sergokalinsky, Derbentsky, Kayakentsky, Akhtynsky, Novolaksky, Tabasaransky, Kumtorkalinsky, Khunzakhsky, Gunibsky, Laksky, Dakhadaevsky, and Kaytagsky districts.

Emergency services are reporting power outages in a total of 132 villages across the republic due to damaged power lines. Rainfall is forecast to continue until March 29. Severe flooding has also been reported in Derbent, Izberbash, and Dagestanskiye Ogni.
