During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
The Investigative Committee for Dagestan continues a preliminary investigation into the death of Akhmed Dzhabrailov, a former participant in the war against Ukraine, in the Sovietsky District Police Department of Makhachkala.
As the head of the "Team Against Torture" Sergei Babine noted in his Telegram channel, the investigation is refraining from opening a criminal case.
"This is a very common pattern of action, since it is easy and quick to stop the investigation, and after opening a criminal case, it is necessary to report to the leadership, since such cases are under special control, plus there is a lot of public resonance in the case," Babinets shared.
On July 9, SVO member Akhmed Dzhabrailov was detained "for disturbing public order." The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan stated that he behaved inappropriately - he ran on the roof of a house with a knife, while intoxicated. The man died 5-7 minutes after being detained at the police station. CCTV cameras showed that the security forces used physical force against him, including using a stun gun.
Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs released a video recording of the deceased's mother, who claimed that the security forces were not involved in his death.
