A man who left a comment on Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov's Telegram channel is on trial in Yekaterinburg

A military court in Yekaterinburg is hearing the case of Alexander Krichevsky, a 58-year-old resident of Izhevsk. He is accused of publicly calling for terrorist activity. The charge stems from a comment he left on September 11, 2024, on Chechen opposition blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov's Telegram channel.

"That's why we listen to him: he's not afraid—a ray of freedom in the kingdom of darkness! And we will only destroy this darkness together when we understand that we have one enemy—Putin and his FSB clique... Both you and we must destroy this enemy so that we can live peacefully as neighbors," Krichevsky responded to another user when asked why people listen to Abdurakhmanov.

Alexander Krichevsky has a first-degree disability. Before his arrest, he lived with his mother, who helped him around the house. After his arrest, his mother died, and his disability status was not extended in the pretrial detention facility.

Tumso Abdurakhmanov, a Chechen blogger, left Russia in 2015 due to a conflict with a relative of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. He is on the federal wanted list in his home country on charges of participating in illegal armed groups in Syria, although the blogger claims he has never been there.

More than 3,000 people in the Derbent and Tsumadinsky districts were left without gas due to damaged utility lines. The main causes of the disaster are believed to be abnormally heavy rainfall, which oversaturated the soil, as well as aggravating factors such as chaotic construction and worn-out utility lines.
