The FSB announced the thwarting of terrorist attacks on Jewish sites in Stavropol and Krasnoyarsk

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced the thwarting of terrorist attacks against Jewish communities in Krasnoyarsk and Pyatigorsk.

Two individuals from a Central Asian country have been detained in Krasnoyarsk. According to the FSB, they were preparing to blow up a synagogue with a homemade explosive device.

In Pyatigorsk, Stavropol Krai, a Russian citizen has been detained on suspicion of plotting to arson a Jewish religious community building using Molotov cocktails.

A criminal case has been opened for preparing a terrorist attack. The FSB claims that the detainees declared their intention to protect the interests of Palestinians affected by the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, as well as to provoke ethnic strife and mass unrest in Russia.
