A Chechen man serving a 17-year prison sentence for allegedly preparing a terrorist attack faces a new disciplinary sanction shortly after spending five days in a punishment cell. His wife says he is being treated unfairly and fears he could be transferred to stricter prison conditions.
The Georgian authorities will act not on the orders of the odious deputies of the European Parliament, but in the interests of the country. This is how the leader of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, assessed the call of the EP deputies to Tbilisi to transfer ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili for treatment to one of the EU member states.
It should be reminded that earlier a group of 44 deputies of the European Parliament appealed to the Georgian authorities with a request to transfer Mikheil Saakashvili for treatment in one of the countries of the European Union. The ex-president thanked them for their support.
In addition, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also registered a draft appeal to Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili and the parliaments of the EU countries to pardon Mikheil Saakashvili.
