Georgia to declare mourning for 17 dead in Shovi resort

August 7 was declared a day of mourning in Georgia for those who died in the Shovi resort in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti regions. On August 3, a landslide came down there, as a result of which the river with landslide masses demolished bridges, damaged roads and covered cottage houses.

At the moment, there are 17 dead (including one citizen of Russia and Ukraine) and more than 20 missing. More than 200 people have been evacuated, rescuers are working.

400 employees of the Emergency Management Service of Georgia have been looking for the missing at the resort for the fourth day after the landslide. The day before they were joined by another 200 soldiers.
