Georgia fined citizens who burned the flag of the European Union

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia fined five people for burning the flag of the European Union at protest rallies.

Recall that the members of the "Conservative Movement", which opposes Western influence in Georgia and for the establishment of relations with Russia, removed the EU flag on March 14, tore it and then burned it.

Since July 2021, desecration of the flag of the EU, NATO, international organizations and countries with which Georgia has diplomatic relations is punishable by a fine of 1,000 lari ($380) or arrest for up to 15 days.
