A rally was held in Georgia against the adoption of a “pro-Russian” law on foreign agents
A protest against the bill on foreign agents took place outside the parliament building in Tbilisi. About 100 people came out with posters “No to Russian law” and “Two years of stubbornness in Europe.”
Recently, the ruling Georgian Dream party introduced a bill “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” to parliament. It provides for the registration of those NGOs and media whose 20% of income is received from abroad. After this, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili stated that “the ruling party is sabotaging the European path” of Georgia.
The Georgian authorities first introduced this bill more than a year ago. This led to massive protests in the country. As a result, it was rejected.
